Parks & Recreation
Department Mission
The Santa Clara Parks & Recreation Department is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our residents by maintaining safe, beautiful parks and recreational facilities that bring our community together. We proudly care for 4 city parks, 3 baseball/softball field facilities, 12.5 miles of recreational trails, our historic cemetery, and open spaces throughout Santa Clara, working every day to ensure these spaces are clean, safe, and welcoming for all to enjoy. We are committed to providing excellent stewardship of Santa Clara’s recreational spaces, ensuring they remain accessible and enjoyable for everyone, today and for future generations.
Meet the Director: Ryan VonCannon
Ryan VonCannon brings over 30 years of experience in the construction industry to his role with Santa Clara City. He began his career working for a local plumbing company, where he spent six years managing multiple crews and job sites. After earning his Journeyman Plumber’s and Contractor’s license, Ryan founded and successfully operated his own plumbing business in Southern Utah, specializing in new construction projects. After five years of business ownership, Ryan and his family chose to return to the St. George area. In the fall of 2016, he joined Santa Clara City as the Supervisor for the Parks Department. His dedication and leadership led to his promotion to Parks Director in 2022. Ryan is passionate about enhancing the beauty of the city and creating spaces the community can be proud of. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, camping, hunting, and fishing. He especially values time spent with his family.
