Public Works

Department Mission

The Public Works Department is committed to maintaining and enhancing Santa Clara’s essential infrastructure through reliable water services, efficient wastewater management, safe and well-maintained streets, and effective stormwater systems. We work diligently to provide exceptional service to our residents and businesses while preserving the natural beauty and quality of life that makes Santa Clara special.

Meet the Director: Dustin Mouritsen

Dustin Mouritsen leads our Public Works team with over 35 years of experience in the construction industry. Originally from Salt Lake City, Dustin moved to Santa Clara 29 years ago and began his career with the city. He served as Assistant Public Works Director for 20 years before becoming Director four years ago. Growing up on a farm in West Valley City, Utah, Dustin developed his love for construction early, learning to drive trucks and operate equipment at a very young age. His expertise includes concrete work, asphalt placement, asphalt maintenance, and the installation and repair of underground utilities. When he’s not ensuring our city’s infrastructure runs smoothly, Dustin enjoys the outdoor recreation opportunities that drew him to Santa Clara – hiking, canyoneering, skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, and scuba diving. Santa Clara has always been a special place to Dustin, and he takes pride in his career with the city and serving the amazing residents who call this community home.
