We’re pleased to announce the successful completion of the Lower Tuacahn Wash Debris Basin Sediment Removal Project! This critical infrastructure improvement represents a significant step forward in protecting our community from flooding while enhancing public safety.

Project Overview

Santa Clara City partnered with Whitaker Construction to execute this essential flood mitigation project, which was funded by the Washington County Flood Control Authority. The project involved the removal of 17,000 cubic yards of accumulated debris and sediment from the debris basin—a substantial undertaking that required careful planning and execution.

Community Benefits

This much-needed project addresses a longstanding concern for our residents, particularly regarding flood protection for our popular Little League Complex. By clearing the debris basin of accumulated sediment, we’ve restored its capacity to effectively manage stormwater runoff and significantly reduce the risk of flooding in this important recreational area.

Collaborative Effort

The success of this project reflects the strong collaborative relationships between Santa Clara City, our contractor partners, and regional agencies. The funding partnership with the Washington County Flood Control Authority demonstrates our commitment to regional cooperation in addressing shared infrastructure challenges.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to:

Moving Forward

This project is part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving Santa Clara’s infrastructure to keep our community beautiful, safe, and resilient. We will continue to monitor the debris basin and coordinate with regional partners to ensure long-term flood protection for our residents.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to enhance our community’s safety and quality of life.
