On January 7, 2025, Santa Clara officially kicked off its General Plan Update project during a joint meeting of the City Council, Planning Commission, and Heritage Commission. Working with Planning Outpost, the consulting team leading the effort, city officials reviewed the General Plan’s role as the city’s comprehensive policy guide for land use, housing, transportation, economic development, and community services. The meeting included a strategic SWOT analysis to identify Santa Clara’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, providing the foundation for informed decision-making throughout the update process. This collaborative approach brings together diverse perspectives to ensure comprehensive community planning as the city develops its vision for the future, with extensive community engagement and public participation opportunities planned in the coming months.
